Biography

Professor Olayiwola Akin Akintola is a distinguished scholar in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering with over three decades of academic, research, and professional experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Ibadan and is a registered engineer with COREN, as well as a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Agricultural Engineers.

Currently serving as Professor of Water Resources & Environmental Engineering at the Federal University Oye Ekiti (fuoye), he has held leadership roles including Acting Head of Department (fuoye), Acting Executive Director (at National Horticultural Research Institute, Ibadan) , and has contributed significantly to advancing knowledge in environmental pollution monitoring, groundwater quality assessment, irrigation scheduling, and sustainable waste management.

Professor Akintola has published extensively in reputable local and international journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and AJOL, with research spanning climate change impacts on rainfall erosivity, fuzzy logic modelling of water quality, and innovative waste valorisation for environmental sustainability. His work bridges engineering, agriculture, and environmental science, with a strong emphasis on practical solutions to Nigeria’s pressing water and pollution challenges.

He is also actively engaged in professional associations, training programs, and collaborative projects, reflecting his commitment to capacity building, sustainable development, and the application of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in environmental management.
